When
you visit the Beville Road Church of Christ you will find a congregation
of warm, caring and loving Christians. A congregation that loves God
and a congregation that is genuinely happy to see visitors. This congregation
is autonomous and is under the oversight of elders (pastors, or bishops),
with a group of men serving as deacons, and we have a minister (or
preacher). All of this follows the teaching of the New Testament and
we follow the teachings with special significance paid to the statement
"speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent."
At the worship services on each and every Sunday, we participate in
five different elements of worship: prayer, singing, hearing God's
word through a message, participating in the partaking of the Lord's
Supper and giving of our means through financial contributions. Please
consider the following scriptures in regards to each of the elements
of worship.
Prayer:
Romans 12:12 "Continue steadfastly in prayer"
I Corinthians 7:5 "Give yourselves unto prayer"
Singing:
Ephesians 5:19 "speaking one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord"
Hebrews 2:12 "In the midst of the congregation will I sing Thy praise"
Sermon:
Acts 20:7 "and upon the first day of the week, when we were gathered
together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart
on the morrow"
The Lord's Supper:
I Corinthians 11:26 "for as often as ye eat this bread, and drink
the cup, ye proclaim the Lord's death till He come"
Acts 2: 42 "and they continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching
and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers"
Contributions:
I Corinthians16:2 "upon the first day of the week let each one of
you lay by him in store, as he may prosper, that no collections be
made when I come"
We believe that God's Word, the Bible, is inspired and that it teaches
us how the Church was founded. The Bible also gives us the answer
to the question "What must I do to be saved?"
We are pleased that you have visited our website and welcome any questions
or comments that you might have. Please understand that there is so
much more to be discovered in God's Word and there is no way that
it can be covered in such a venue as this. Please come to a worship
service and visit with us as we serve our God. |
